Meet Liz

the founder & owner of brilliant events

Liz’s family has been in Whistler since 1912, and she carries the torch of being a local. One of the greatest tools Liz wields in her work is her rich network. She knows (and is adored by) so many wonderful vendors in the Sea to Sky Corridor — and she’ll know exactly who to call on to help your gorgeous wedding run flawlessly.

As a mother of four, Liz has learned the arts of multitasking and negotiating — skills that she’ll bring to both your planning process and your wedding day, so that everything runs easily, efficiently, and on schedule.

At just ten years old, Liz was taking it upon herself to organize neighbourhood dinner parties — and she naturally found her place at the center of a socially-complex adult world.

Fast forward a few decades, and she’s still planning luxurious, fun events — albeit in a more intricate and involved way than in her childhood. That talent for creating synergy at social gatherings grew into a profession she loves.

The people who know Liz describe her as fun, friendly, hilarious, and a joy to be around — and she effortlessly infuses that happiness into her work. She’s a delight to collaborate with, and helps everyone in her presence feel at ease.

Ultimately, not a whole lot has changed since those block parties of her childhood — except now the “neighbourhood” has grown to include clients from all over the world. One thing that’s stayed the same is that Liz treats every client as if they were family.

Forget perfection.
We focus on what truly matters:

Flow Originality Joy

With a ton of experience under our belts, and a love for what we do, we prioritize what’s important: designing a wedding according to your unique style, scheduling precisely so that things flow smoothly, and eliminating stress. We plan meticulously, execute calmly, work hard — and always have fun while doing so.

letter from the founder

Dear couple in love,

I want to know your love story. How you met, how you fell in love. I’m a romantic at heart, and I believe in true, everlasting love. I want to hear all about yours.

I met my husband when he was helping my brother — his best friend — repair my Granny’s rowboat in preparation for a family event. I walked down the mossy, tree-lined forest trail to our family cabins, and saw him for the first time. I was speechless. (And that takes a lot — I usually have a lot to say.)

When my husband was a teenager in Ontario in the 90s, he saw a photo of the West Coast mountains — and was committed to moving out here to find them. He saw those iconic mountains, met my brother, met me, and he never left.

We started to fall in love when he took me rowing in that same Clinker-built rowboat that my Grandparents had rowed on Alta Lake, 75 years earlier. We started our life together in a 700-square-foot cabin in the woods. This is just a small piece of our love story. Today, 20 years later — with four children, two dogs, one cat, and countless memories — we’re still in love, and still in the Sea to Sky.

My great-grandmother first came to Whistler in 1912 — and my family has been here ever since. She was coming to Alta Lake to meet a friend: it took her a day by steamship from Vancouver to Squamish, and another two days from Squamish to Whistler on horseback.
I’m a fourth-generation Whistler local — meaning my children are the fifth. My life has been full of beautiful moments, most of them taking place at our treasured family cabins at Alta Lake. I grew up playing in the water and forest with my siblings and cousins, running free and wild. I spent evenings in the cabin loft, eavesdropping on conversations between aunts and uncles. I’ve logged countless nights on the front porch, looking over the lake, sharing a bottle of wine or pot of tea and some gossip, family stories, and laughter. I’ve gathered with multiple generations at once on that porch. Now, my husband and I are joyfully continuing the traditions.

As you can tell, I love romance, celebrating, and a generous dash of sentimentality. I bring this to every wedding I plan and execute, and I treat every one of my clients as if they were family. I have deep connections to the place I call home and the community that holds my heart — and I love to share them. The vendors I work with are my co-workers and my best friends. All of us came to the Sea to Sky to share in the magic of this beautiful place — and we’ll pour that magic into your special day.

Your wedding day is one of thousands you’ll spend with your spouse, and I want to make it one you’ll cherish for life. When you and your fiance come to me, in love, ready to celebrate — I do my job with unparalleled grace and professionalism. I will find you the perfect vendors for your vision; I will design and style in ways that amplify your personal tastes and aesthetic; I will run a timeline that runs so smoothly you feel like a star in your own movie.

This is my vow to you. As your wedding planner, I will pour my heart into building you an event that is timeless, intimate, and brilliant. It might just be one day — but it’s going to be a beautiful chapter in your family story, passed down for generations to come.

With Love,

Liz
